dc.description.abstractThe current investigation focused on the Leadership Behavior of Principals and Attitudes of Teachers as related to the Academic Environment in Private Secondary Schools of District Dera Ismail Khan. The main aims and objectives were to identify the impact of leadership behavior of principals on the academic environment of private schools in District Dera Ismail Khan. To know about the impact of attitudes of teachers on the academic environment of private secondary schools in District Dera Ismail Khan. To identify the relationship of leadership behavior of principals with job related attitudes of the teachers. The tested hypotheses of the study were that the private secondary school principal(s) posse’s effective leadership behavior. Private school teachers possess positive attitudes toward teaching. Private school students have the conducive academic environment in their schools. Effective leadership of principals leads towards a suitable academic environment in private schools of District Dera Ismail Khan. The attitude and leadership behavior are correlated. There is no significant difference between rural and urban respondents in an academic environment. There is no significant difference between rural and urban respondents in teacher’s attitude towards teaching. There is no significant difference between rural and urban respondents in Leadership behavior of principals. There is no significant mean difference between the perception of Head of the department, Male teachers and Female teachers regarding the academic environment at secondary school level. There is no significant mean difference between the perception of Head of the department, Male teachers and Female teachers regarding teacher’s attitude towards teaching at secondary school level. There is no significant mean difference between the perception of Head of the department, Male teachers and Female teachers regarding Leadership behavior of principals. The quantitative methods were used for the collection and analysis of data. The nature of the study was descriptive, Cross xiii Sectional and normative survey method were used to collect the data from the respondents. All the School heads and teachers working in Private Secondary Schools of District Dera Ismail khan under BISE Dera Ismail Khan was the targeted population of the study. Total private Secondary schools were 147, similarly, total heads of the department of private secondary schools were 147, in the same way total male teachers in these private Secondary schools were 950, female teachers were 520 and total teachers in private secondary school were 1470. The Total population of the study was 1617. The present research focuses on the Leadership behavior of Principals and attitudes of teachers toward teaching as related to the academic environment in private secondary schools of district Dera Ismail Khan. There are three main variables leadership behavior, attitudes of teachers and academic environment. Therefore researcher developed three questionnaires, one for each variable. The researcher used different statistical techniques to test the hypothesis which are, one sample t-test, independent sample t-test, single factor analysis of variance (ANOVA), simple linear regression, multiple regression and Pearson’s Correlation coefficients. The alpha level for t-test and ANOVA was 0.05 and for regression and Pearson’s Correlation coefficients the alpha level was 0.01. The findings of the study indicated that effective leadership of principals leads towards a suitable academic environment in private schools. Moreover, The researcher found that positive attitudes of teachers may contribute in inculcating better academic environment in private schools. As the research implication, the research can be implemented in all private secondary schools of district Dera Ismail Khan.en_US
