Abstract: Subdivision techniques have arisen to forefront the geometric cores of modeling in many disciplines. Subdivision algorithms are particularly appealing to the geometric modeling community as they are easy to execute, extremely flexible and simple to adapt for computer implementations. Important steps in the field of subdivision have been taken in the recent decades and this area has been extended in different directions on account of numerous applications and generalizations. The objective of this study is to present the innovative combined subdivision algorithms, which offer a complete structure to improve many existing results and to expand their use in most practical applications. The ceremonial techniques of convergence are utilized to analyze the smoothness properties of proposed schemes. Shape preservation is an important criteria for assessing the worth of subdivision scheme. It is used to produce a curve in a predictable way for exhibiting significant variations in geometric models. The shape preserving properties of few classical families of stationary as well as nonstationary subdivision schemes are also analyzed. The graphical interpretation of the proposed results are depicted in the light of explanatory examples.
