Abstract: | ABSTRACT Man has been granted the blessing of religion/deen, in every period of human history, through two sources: Holy books of Allah and the personalities or sirah of Holy Prophets. These two have remained interdependent since beginning. Like in ancient times, man needs the same two resources in modern times as well to be blessed with Islam. Firstly, these resources are available in the form of the Holy Quran, secondly in the form of Uswa e Nabvi (S.A.W) which is preserved only in the sirah of Hazrat Mohammad P.B.U.H TWO SOURCES OF SIRAH e NABVI (S.A.W) Primary Sources Secondary Sources Primary sources include the Holy Quran, Hadith, the books of Dalail o Khasais, Shamail and Maghazi o Seer and common books of history. However, secondary sources do not only depend on sirah and history, rather these are related to other subjects also, such as literature, collections/ dawaveen of verses, and books containing the biographies of those who have narrated ahadith, geography, fiqha and kutb ul Ansab etc. These sources of sirah are different from each other regarding their strengths and weaknesses, and their origin and format; these cannot be graded on the same level. HADITH e NABVI and SIRAH The books of Hadith are collection of the sayings, deeds and tacit approval of the Holy Prophet P.B.U.H and the material of Maghazi o Saraayaa are also related to them. ‘MAJMA UL ZAWAID WA MANBA UL FAWAID’ by Allama Haythami is one of a great collections of Hadith. SIRAH E NABVI ‘MAJMA-UL-ZAWAID’ IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF ALLAMA HAYTHAMI Allama Haythami has mentioned most of the Ahadith relating to sirah at two places:- i. KITAB UL MAGHAZI WL SEER ii. KITAB ALAMAAT UL NABBUWAH In” KITAB UL MAGHAZI WL SEER”, there are seventy eight (78) chapters which cover six hundred seventy (670) ahadith. There are thirteen (13) chapters on Makki period which have a collection of ninety-seven (97) rawayat/ narrations, whereas there are fifty six (56) chapters on Madni period which contain five hundred seventy-three (573) ahadith. The remaining ahadith have been mentioned in other nine chapters related to sirah at the end of it. “Kitab Alamaat ul Nabbuwah”generally discusses and narrates the shamail o dalail of Nabuwat. This book has seventy-six (76) chapters and four hundred sixty-nine (469) ahadith which reflects on Imam Haythami’s qualities of having historic vision and his modern perception. Apart from the above two topics, the material related to sirah is reflected under other subjects as well. There are three (03) chapters in the context of the event of Meraaj in ‘ Kitab ul Eimaan’. According to the authority on order and formating of sirah III السرية النبوية عند االمام اهليثمي يف كتابه جممع الزوائد ومنبع الفوا ئد traditions, the methodology of Imam Haythami is like that of a whole compilation. He is distinguished from his successors in the sense that he has elicited how many books contain same hadith, and also discussed about the translators, who were once companions of the Holy Prophet P.B.U.H, in” Mujam Kabeer Tabarani” There are three Significant Methodologies in the Composition of Sirah. i. Methodology of Muhaddisin. ii. Methodology of History and Science of Hadith. iii. Methodology of Topics. In the first methodology, narrations/ rawayat are compiled after testing them according to the science of hadith. The second one is a combination of the characteristics of both hadith and history, whereas the third one is related to the discussion of a specific aspect of sirah. The methodology of Imam Haythami coordinates with that of Muhaddasin. SIGNIFICANCE, NEED AND REASON OF SELECTING THE TOPIC. The Ahadith related to sirah in ‘MAJMA UL ZAWAID WA MANBA UL FAWAID’ have always been popular among scholars and students because of their easy and excellent methodology. Hence it was essentially required that all the narrations and their narrators of sirah, whom Imam Haythami has mentioned in his book, should be researched in detail that was not studied before specially at rawayaat ul Sirah . The worth of this work can be realized from the fact that the great mohaddith and Imam of Jarh o Taadil (invalidation and validation), Allama Ibn e Hajr Asqalani has benefitted, in his books, from Majma uz Zawaid in the matters related to sirah. Afterwards, a very great mohaddith Shaikh Busairy in the eighth hijra, Allama Jalaluddin Sayooti in the nineth hijra, and Shaikh Munavi, Shaikh Husaini, Shaikh Ajlooni, Imam Sanaani, Allama Shoukani etc. in the tenth hijra have mentioned many rawayaat (narrations) from ‘MAJMA UL ZAWAID WA MANBA UL FAWAID’ in their books of sirah. Even the great writers of sirah in the modern century could not complete their research without consulting it. However, Dr. Asim Bin Abdullah an assistant professor at the University of Medina pointed out in his book “TANBIHAT ALA TAHRIFAAT WA TASHIFAAT FI KITAB MAJMA UL ZAWAID WA MANB UL FAWAID,” that Imam Haythami has committed negligence and mistakes unknowingly at several places. He pointed out seventy seven such places in his book, therefore, in the light of the research conducted by prof. Of Medina University on the compilation of Imam Haythami ,it was realized that the narrations related to Al-sirah in the Majma-ul-Zawaid needed to be passed through the research and the views of Imam Haythami and other scholars should be analyzed critically in order to ascertain the truth and to discriminate the correct ahadith from the false ones |
